Roles and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for directing the management and operations of multiple retail sites within an assigned district. The district manager is responsible for ensuring retail stores are running smoothly and meet their financial expectations. Fosters cooperation among all business segments to deliver a high standard of quality service. Ensures store talent is trained and developed and manages store personnel needs. Produces quality results by applying efficient best practices.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge & Skills

  • Multi-unit experience.
  • Softlines and hardline merchandising expertise.
  • Proven ability to drive sales.
  • Strong people management and coaching skills, as well as excellent team building skills.
  • English reading, writing and speaking proficiency necessary to communicate effectively with supervisors, employees and customers.
  • Ability to recruit quality individuals.
  • Ability to interact with a diverse population in human services setting.
  • Ability and desire to provide excellent customer service.
  • Strong conflict management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
  • Budgeting and cost analysis procedure expertise.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in various software applications including Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong people management and coaching skills.
  • Ability and desire to provide excellent customer service and to lead a staff that does the same.
  • Budgeting and cost analysis procedure expertise.
  • Flexible working schedule including days, nights, holidays and weekends.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Prior Experience and Education

  • Bachelors of Arts or Science Degree in related field, an Associate's Degree, or equivalent experience as noted below.
  • With a bachelor's degree: minimum of five years recent retail experience as a store
  • manager with discount store, high volume specialty store or primary managerial position in a department store or big box retailer.
  • With an associate's degree: minimum of eight years of recent experience as a store
  • manager with a discount store, high volume specialty store or primary managerial position in a department store or big box retailer.
  • Must have experience with both hardline and softlines product.
